Summer is always a less focused season for my business. I am home with the kids more, and just getting my shooting, editing, and ordering done keeps me busy. But when Fall comes, I am ready to get busy on some new projects, so the past few weeks we’ve started on some things I’ve had in mind for a while.
We spent some time this summer on some short trips and did some browsing/shopping at some fun stores, and I am always looking for inspiration for studio props or decorating my studio. Some ideas that I saw and loved:
A few weekends ago, we went prop shopping and came home with some new things that I am eager to try out.
We also started on a new background wall for the studio. I’ve been planning a set for Fall pictures. I wasn’t sure if I should order a new backdrop, or create something new. We ended up deciding to create something new. Phil got a load of old barn wood, and has been working on piecing it together this week!
The flip side of the wall is going to have old white ceiling tile. Part of the reason we made this is because it gives me a wider background to work with than than a lot of the ones I have, and also it’s something unique. I know I will get a lot of use out of it, beyond just the Holiday themes I have in mind.
I also started working on a welcome letter for newborn sessions, with a few guidelines for prepping for a newborn session.
So, that’s a little of what we’ve been working on at the studio lately. I am thankful that my business continues to grow, and I am able to focus more and more on what I love to do. We plan to keep improving, and making your portrait experience at Center Street better and better!
