After Christmas, we had a simple open house to celebrate the finalization of our adoption. We invited close friends and family who have walked through this long journey with us.
It was a fun party to plan! Someone on Instagram posted a pretty picture of a dessert table, and that inspired me for this dessert table for our party. Over Christmas break, I made a lot of cakes and froze them, and then the day before the party I frosted them all. Some awesome friends loaned me a few cake stands and the drink server.
The lemonade turned out amazing (it was just a powdered mix!), and later I realized I used half as much water as I was supposed to! So that’s the trick to good powdered lemonade I guess…
I got a large letter on Amazon. I painted it a light gray and we used it as a unique guestbook. I think we will hang it in our son’s room, but I haven’t decided for sure yet. I printed lots of pictures from the past 2.5 years and put them up on my picture board in our dining room. It was fun to remember so many memories! I also put the banner I made for our family pictures up on our fireplace mantel.
We all wore shirts with an adoption theme that I got from different stores on Etsy. It took me a while to find shirts I liked for everyone! There weren’t as many adoption shirts available as I thought there would be! I used these stores: be a light creations our misconception and Eli and Ryn.
